Functions of the Parish Nursing Ministry -

  • Integrator of Faith and Health: In all activities and contacts, the parish nurse seeks to promote the understanding of relationships between faith and health.
  • Health Educator: Promotes an atmosphere where individuals of all ages, through a variety of educational activities, explores the relationship between values, attitudes and lifestyles.
  • Personal Health Counselor: Discusses and problems with individuals; makes home, hospital and nursing home visits as needed.
  • Referral Agent and Liaison with the congregation and community resources.
  • Health Advocate: works with client, faith community and primary health resources to provide the support to do what they can and to serve as the client's voice when they to have none.
  • Developer of Support Groups -
    • A.A. Big Book meeting - Mon. 12 - 1 PM in St. Mark's room.
    • Al-Anon Step & Tradition meeting - Thurs. 10 AM in St. Mark's room.    
    • Al-Anon meeting - Thurs. 11 AM in St. Mark's room.
    • A.A. Women's Closed meeting - Thurs. 2 PM in St. Mark's room.
    • A.A. Closed Step Mtg. - Fri. 12 - 1 PM in St. Mark's room.   
    • Exercise Club - Wed. 9:30 - 10:30 AM in the Parish Center.
    • Stretching & Balancing Class - Thur. 10:30 AM in St. Matthew's room. 

The Parish Nurses Office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM to 12 PM.  There is always a nurse present for blood pressure consultation and education.
